The Hoffman Cup’s First Tee Initiative
The First Tee is a nationally-recognized
nonprofit organization that “impacts the lives
of young people by providing educational programs that build character,
instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the
game of golf.”
The Red Hoffman Cup Matches First Tee Initiative is likely to exceed its previous years of support to the four First Tee chapters in New Jersey. To give back to the game we love, Hoffman Cup captains and their teammates have been invited to volunteer time and / or make a donation to The First Tee's impactful programs.
In 2018, we provided support to these four New Jersey First Tee chapters:
- The First Tee of Metropolitan NY, which covers Bergen and Essex counties, as well as TFT of Plainfield.
- The First Tee -- Jersey Shore, covering children mainly in Ocean and Monmouth counties
- The First Tee of Raritan Valley, focusing on children in Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset, Union, and Warren counties
- TFT of Greater Trenton, which covers youth in the areas around Trenton.
We have clearly struck a responsive chord among our Hoffman Cup participants, with over $124,000 donated to all of these chapters to date!
In 2019
We will build on the success of these fine first few years to keep our First Tee Initiative relevant and valuable to our member clubs. Literally all of us who participate in the Hoffman Cup are familiar with TFT and its programs. It is important to realize that all of us benefit from the TFT. Not only does the program build our children into better citizens, it creates a pipeline and support to the game we love.
How to Contribute
Each Hoffman Cup captain is encouraged to ask his team to contribute both volunteer time and financial support. Last year, most Hoffman Cup contributions were made by checks that were consolidated by the captains and sent to the chapter. Another good option is to donate online.
